1. Information We Process

VoiceLingo: Speak & Translate processes only the information reasonably necessary to provide the features you choose to use. Depending on the feature, this may include:

• Audio that you intentionally record through your device microphone.
• Text that you enter into the app.
• Text created from your recorded speech.
• The source language, target language, and voice options you select.
• App preferences stored locally on your device, such as language and voice settings.
• Limited technical information needed to retrieve app configuration, maintain availability, prevent abuse, and diagnose service failures.

VoiceLingo: Speak & Translate does not require you to create a user account to use its core translation features.

2. How Information Is Collected

Information is processed in the following ways:

• Directly from you when you type text, select languages, or start a microphone recording.
• From your device when the app retrieves local preferences or requests permission to use the microphone.
• From service providers when they return a transcript, translation, generated voice response, or app configuration result.

VoiceLingo: Speak & Translate does not continuously listen to your microphone. Recording begins only after you initiate a voice feature and grant microphone permission through iOS.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Convert recorded speech into text.
• Translate text between the languages you select.
• Generate or play spoken translations.
• Remember app language and voice preferences on your device.
• Retrieve remote app configuration, including maintenance status.
• Protect the service, investigate failures, and improve reliability.
• Comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not use your audio, entered text, transcripts, or translations for targeted advertising or cross-app tracking.

4. Cloud Processing and OpenAI

VoiceLingo: Speak & Translate uses OpenAI services to provide cloud-based speech transcription, translation, and text-to-speech functionality.

When you start one of these features, VoiceLingo: Speak & Translate sends the information required to complete your request to OpenAI. Depending on the feature, this may include:

• The audio recording you submit for transcription.
• The text you enter or the transcript produced from your speech.
• The source language, target language, and selected voice settings.

Before the first OpenAI-powered translation request, the app shows an in-app disclosure explaining what will be sent and asks for your explicit permission. If you do not allow this processing, Translator will not send your recording, transcript, or translation request to OpenAI.

This information is sent only to provide the feature you requested. VoiceLingo: Speak & Translate does not sell this information and does not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.

OpenAI processes information under its own applicable terms, privacy commitments, and data-retention practices. Service providers acting on our behalf are expected to protect information consistently with this Privacy Policy and applicable privacy requirements.

5. Apple and Firebase Services

Apple services

VoiceLingo: Speak & Translate uses Apple operating-system features for permissions, audio playback, and other device functionality. Information handled by Apple is subject to Apple's applicable privacy practices.

Google Firebase Remote Config

VoiceLingo: Speak & Translate may use Google Firebase Remote Config to retrieve non-personal app configuration, such as maintenance-mode settings. Firebase Remote Config is not used by VoiceLingo: Speak & Translate to store your microphone recordings, entered translation text, transcripts, or translated output.

6. Permissions and Your Consent

VoiceLingo: Speak & Translate requests microphone permission only when microphone-based features require it. You can allow or deny this permission through the iOS permission prompt.

Audio and text are sent for cloud processing only after you initiate a relevant feature. You can choose not to use microphone or cloud-based features. Where a separate in-app disclosure is shown, you may decline and avoid the related data transfer.

You can revoke microphone access at any time in: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.

7. Data Sharing

We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

• With service providers that process information to deliver transcription, translation, voice generation, app configuration, hosting, security, or reliability functions.
• When required by law, legal process, or a valid governmental request.
• When reasonably necessary to protect users, enforce applicable terms, prevent fraud or abuse, or protect the security of the app.
• In connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or transfer of the app, subject to appropriate privacy protections.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share translation content with advertising networks for targeted advertising.

8. Local Storage

VoiceLingo: Speak & Translate may store app preferences locally on your device, including selected languages, app language, and voice settings. These preferences remain until you change them, clear the app's data where supported, or delete the app.

9. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the requested functionality, maintain service security and reliability, resolve disputes, or comply with legal obligations.

Local preferences remain on your device until you change them or delete the app. Information processed by third-party service providers may be retained according to their applicable retention practices and legal obligations.

To ask whether information associated with your use of VoiceLingo: Speak & Translate can be accessed, corrected, or deleted, contact us at mandy.dowrad@ptrassociates.org.uk. Because VoiceLingo: Speak & Translate does not require an account, we may need sufficient details to locate any information related to your request, and in some cases there may be no stored information that can be linked back to you.

10. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information during transmission and processing. However, no internet transmission or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

11. International Data Transfers

Service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. When required, appropriate safeguards are used to protect information transferred internationally.

12. Children's Privacy

VoiceLingo: Speak & Translate is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us so that we can review the situation and take appropriate action.

13. Your Privacy Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

• Request information about personal data processed in connection with the app.
• Request access, correction, or deletion where applicable.
• Object to or restrict certain processing where applicable.
• Withdraw consent for permission-based processing.
• Submit a complaint to your local data-protection authority.

You may also stop using voice features, revoke microphone permission, or delete the app to remove locally stored preferences.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when VoiceLingo: Speak & Translate, its service providers, or applicable legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the latest revision. Material changes may also be communicated inside the app where appropriate.
